This was the first morn of Eid at our homestead.
Before reuniting with our families for some serious merrymaking, we woke up at dawn to see the dark clouds slowly brightening to make way for the sun. Once the sun rose high, we spent the morning’s remainder by ironing the kinks off the kurung and baju melayu that N’s mom had lovingly sewn for us, dancing with Charlie while singing off-key to that Saloma classic and finally feasting on ketupat rice cakes coupled with a warm bowl of beef rendang and some serunding flakes that my mom sent.
Our particular morning may be on the quiet side but life, for that day, felt truly festive. Hope you had a good one too.
