We had a leisurely lunch with our friend a few weeks back at Hubba Hubba and…something happened. The inner child in us burst out of nowhere the moment we saw the party props on the table. While waiting for our food to arrive, we messed around with the moustaches, puckered lips and buckteeth. So silly, I know, but we had such good laughs over them that it didn’t matter. We sat there for quite a while, just enjoying the atmosphere and the ultra-hipster interior before digging into some delicious sweet potato fries, spinach fettucine and fat battered fish. But what was even more delicious was the long conversation we had over drinks. About life, about future vacation plans, about nothingness. We even discussed The Myth of Happiness— the book that I loaned to my friend a few months back— and came to the conclusion that we’re still unsure of what happiness really means. But seeing friends again after a long absence, we decided, is a definite joy. It made me think of doing this more with our few favorite people since it seems to be the best punctuation between our (multiple) jobs and marriage. Thank God for the few good people in our lives.
